Fairy Portrait Prep

So you’re coming in for Fairy Portraits!
Here are some tips to help you prepare for your portrait session.

  • Please remove any chipped nail polish or temporary tattoos before your portrait session. It is too difficult to remove chipped nail polish or tattoos with Photoshop.

  • I have a variety of dresses and outfits to choose from on the day of your session along with wings and flower crowns.

  • When I ask your child a question don't answer for them. I always ask that you don’t say anything while I’m photographing. Don't repeat things I say and don't instruct your child. All kids are pretty good and I’ve got this. I also have treats for them if allowed.

  • If you have a child with long hair, pin it back a bit. Make sure it’s not pinned back too hard and that the hair frames the face. Feel free to have a little curl too. Some moms put a little bit of blush, sparkles, and/or a little bit of lipgloss. That makes the little girls feel really pretty. That's your call but it adds to the experience for them and they get really excited about their fairy portrait session.

  • Sometimes I get little boys in too with their sisters. Most of the time they really enjoy this. Just let them know there’s going to be boy things that are suitable for them and the same rules supply when I'm talking to them.

  • If you're thinking about getting a wall portrait (you do not have to, only if you want to) look at the walls in your home and get a sense of where it’s going to go. The popular spot is a little girl’s bedroom, family room, or sometimes the living room. Take a picture with your phone of the wall or walls you may want the portrait on.   • The treatment that goes into these images is quite extensive so I don’t do a lot of work on your proofs. Typically a couple weeks after your session you’ll come in to look at your photos and pick out what you want. I will go through the images with you. On any prints you order I intensify the contrast in the colors and give them the magic artistic treatment. There's a lot of time and effort involved in that which is why I don’t do all the proofs, it will take forever.
