Fall Family Photography Fun in Vancouver, WA!

We had an amazing fall here in the PNW. So many beautiful and dry days. If you have lived here for any amount of time you know what I mean. We don't usually have too many dry days here during the fall, or winter and spring for that matter. It seems we have two seasons here in the Pacific Northwest, wet and dry. This past fall I got to take advantage of the dry in the wet season.

Here is just one example of what I was able to capture last fall. If you’ve been following me on social media you may have seen that I had a Black Friday sale for portrait sessions. It was a big hit and I had this lovely family used their gift certificate right away.

After talking with them and learning what they wanted we decided to meet at Lewisville Park. When the session date became closer we changed our location to Wintler Park by the Columbia River and boy am I glad we did.

It was a beautiful sunny day, but a little crisp outside. You would never know if by these photos. Not only was this family a pleasure to work with and so much fun they also were very brave to put up with the cold. Yes, it was cold out there, very cold. I was bundled up in my winter coat, but my hands were freezing. Between shots, the mom had her coat nearby to cuddle up in and I had a blanket in my car to give to the young man in the photos so he would survive the day. If it weren’t for my blanket I’m quite sure he would have perished. The other two men were very brave, of course, and didn’t need a coat. They would survive the day.

By looking at these photos you’d never know the temperature. Thanks to a wonderful family and a little photoshop work to take out the red noses the pictures turned out great. And because it was November we didn’t have to worry about avoiding the other people on the beach because there were no people there.

So if you’re thinking of having your family portrait taken and the weather is a little cold or even a little cloudy, don’t worry. Your photos will turn out great.

If you want me to take your family photo just get in touch and we can make a special day of it warm or cold.
